Many brides will wear more than one dress on their wedding day. A lot like to have something that leans more to the conservative side of the spectrum for the ceremony. Then, between the ceremony and the reception, or just after the father-daughter dance, they will change into dress #2- usually something a little sexier or less traditional.
Then there are the brides that will don a third dress for the last part of the wedding. Usually, this happens at weddings that have a DJ take over for the band for the last hour of the reception. And this is the dress that gets even sexier. We've decided to name this dress. We call it: The Cake Dress. We call it this because the ideal time to make the wardrobe change would be just before the cake cutting portion of the wedding.
For our Fall/Winter Edition cover feature, "Practice Makes Perfect... And Relaxed", photographed at The Glasshouse Midtown with (now) newlyweds Shaun Sipos and Lindsey Morgan, we decided to have a cake. And a cake dress.
We found a gorgeous, mildly provocative dress for Lindsey to wear by designer Paula Hian. It was absolutely perfect for her. So perfect, that we asked New York cake artist Deborah Lauren of City Sweets & Confections to create a cake inspired by the silver dress selected for Lindsey.
The cake dress spread from the couple's feature is seen above. And below are some more images Marcin Pawlowski of Charming Images photographed of the couple with Lindsey in her cake dress. And a video by Shuttersound Pictures.
...there is, by the way, a fourth dress a bride can wear. It is called: The Getaway Dress.
